The first question brands ask us is how much Amazon deducts. Amazon publishes each fee separately, on different pages, before VAT. This guide puts them together and works through one product from price to payout.
All rates below come from Amazon’s own pricing page for the UAE store, checked on 23 September 2026. Amazon changes fees and runs time-limited promotions, so confirm the current figures in Seller Central before you price.
For a small beauty product sold through FBA, Amazon’s fees come to 28 to 35 percent of the selling price once VAT on the fees is added, depending on where the price sits. Categories with lower referral rates, such as electronics, come out lower. The total is made of three charges: a referral fee (a percentage of the sale), an FBA fulfilment fee (a flat amount per unit) and a monthly storage fee. Amazon adds VAT to every one of them.
Amazon deposits your proceeds after deducting its fees. Anything your balance does not cover is charged to the card on the account.
Not at the moment. Amazon.ae states that Professional accounts are available with no monthly subscription fee “for a limited time only”. Some guides still quote a monthly fee, so check the current terms when you register.
Amazon also advertises “over AED 175,000 in potential incentives” for new sellers. These depend on eligibility and change over time, so treat them as a bonus, not as part of your margin.
Most Amazon.ae categories charge between 5 and 15 percent of the total sales price, with a minimum of AED 1 per item. The percentage is charged on the full price the buyer pays, including shipping and gift wrap. Several categories switch rate at a price threshold.
| Category | Referral fee | Minimum |
|---|---|---|
| Beauty; Health and Personal Care; Baby | 8% up to AED 50, 15% above AED 50 | AED 1 |
| Apparel, Shoes, Home, Kitchen, Luggage | 15% | AED 1 |
| Perfumes | 15% (13% with FBA) | AED 1 |
| Sports | 14% | AED 1 |
| Toys | 14% | AED 1 |
| Consumer Electronics | 7% | AED 1 |
| Mobile Phones | 5% | AED 1 |
| Grocery | 5% up to AED 50, 11% above AED 50 | AED 0 |
| Pet Products | 8% up to AED 50, 15% above AED 50 | AED 0 |
| Electronics Accessories | 15% on the first AED 250, 8% on the rest | AED 1 |
| All other categories | 10% | AED 1 |

Note the two kinds of threshold. In Beauty, Baby, Health and Personal Care, Pet Products and Grocery, the higher rate applies to the whole price once you cross AED 50. In Electronics Accessories, Furniture, Jewellery and Watches, the higher or lower rate applies only to the portion above the threshold. The first kind is the one that catches brands out.
The FBA fulfilment fee is a flat amount per unit, set by size tier and weight. The rates effective 1 August 2025 are AED 2 higher per unit for items priced above AED 25. A standard parcel up to 250 g costs AED 7.20 at AED 25 or less, and AED 9.20 above AED 25.
| Standard parcel, shipping weight | Price AED 25 or less | Price above AED 25 |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 0.25 kg | AED 7.20 | AED 9.20 |
| Up to 0.5 kg | AED 7.50 | AED 9.50 |
| Up to 1 kg | AED 8.50 | AED 10.50 |
| Up to 2 kg | AED 9.50 | AED 11.50 |
| Up to 5 kg | AED 12.50 | AED 14.50 |
| Up to 12 kg | AED 19.50 | AED 21.50 |
A standard parcel is up to 45 × 34 × 26 cm and 12 kg. Smaller, flatter items fall into cheaper envelope tiers, and anything larger is oversize. Source: Amazon.ae FBA fulfilment fees, effective 1 August 2025.
Amazon.ae charges AED 2 per cubic foot per month for inventory in its fulfilment centres, based on your daily average volume. For small products this is a fraction of a dirham per unit. It becomes material for bulky items, slow sellers and anything stored for more than 365 days, which attracts long-term storage fees.
To convert: multiply length × width × height in centimetres and divide by 28,316.84. A box of 18 × 8 × 7 cm is 0.036 cubic feet, or about AED 0.07 per unit per month.
Yes. Amazon.ae’s fees are published excluding VAT, and Amazon adds VAT to all of them. At the UAE’s 5 percent rate, that is AED 5 on every AED 100 of fees.
Separately, if you are VAT-registered you owe output VAT on your own sales. Non-resident sellers have no registration threshold in the UAE; we covered that in Can You Sell on Amazon.ae Without a UAE Trade Licence?. Ask your tax agent whether the VAT on Amazon’s fees can be reclaimed as input tax in your case.
Assumptions: Beauty category, sold through FBA, VAT-registered seller, standard parcel of 18 × 8 × 7 cm under 250 g, each unit stored for two months before it sells. Rates as published on 23 September 2026.
| Line | Amount (AED) |
|---|---|
| Selling price, VAT-inclusive | 79.00 |
| Referral fee, 15% (price above AED 50) | −11.85 |
| FBA fulfilment fee, standard parcel up to 0.25 kg, price above AED 25 | −9.20 |
| Storage, two months | −0.14 |
| VAT on Amazon’s fees, 5% | −1.06 |
| Total Amazon fees including VAT | −22.25 (28.2% of price) |
| Output VAT on the sale (79 ÷ 1.05 × 5%) | −3.76 |
| Left before product cost, inbound shipping and advertising | 52.99 |
This is an illustration built from Amazon’s published rates, not a result from a client account.
In Beauty, Baby, Health and Personal Care and Pet Products, pricing at AED 51 instead of AED 50 nearly doubles the referral fee, because 15 percent then applies to the whole price. On the product above, you keep AED 33.61 at AED 50 and AED 30.73 at AED 51. You need to price at AED 55 or more to keep more than you would at AED 50.
| Price (AED) | Referral fee | Total Amazon fees incl. VAT | Left after fees and output VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 4.00 | 14.01 | 33.61 |
| 51 | 7.65 | 17.84 | 30.73 |
| 54 | 8.10 | 18.31 | 33.12 |
| 55 | 8.25 | 18.47 | 33.91 |
Same assumptions as the worked example. Check where each of your prices sits before you launch or run a promotion that moves them across AED 50.
Amazon’s fee page covers what Amazon charges. It does not include your product cost, inbound shipping to the fulfilment centre, returns, a UAE trade licence or VAT registration where they apply, or advertising. Advertising is usually the cost that decides whether a product is profitable, and it is the one you control most.
On advertising, industry benchmarks put 20 to 40 percent of spend in poorly structured accounts on searches that never convert. We explain how that waste is found and removed on our Amazon PPC management page.
